It is with profound sadness that Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services announces the off-duty death of Fire Inspector Senior Aleks Shaverin on March 24, 2025. Aleksandr “Aleks” V. Shaverin joined our fire family on March 27, 2010. After completing his fire recruit training and gaining an Emergency Medical Technician certification, Shaverin received his first assignment at Fire Station 6 on A-Shift. In 2014, he joined our Community Risk Reduction Division as a Fire Inspector, where he continued to serve our residents by working with building owners and contractors to ensure that structures in our County complied with ordinances and…

Hero Of The Day – Appreciations !!

We want to recognize an everyday hero here in our community for his selflessness and quick actions. Engine 19, Medic 19, and Battalion 4 personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision last summer where a civilian acted selflessly to help another resident in need. This good Samaritan heard a loud commotion near his home and investigated the noise, only to find a vehicle upside down and beginning to catch fire. It won’t be much longer until pool weather returns! Here are some helpful safety tips to keep in mind when enjoying the water with your family this year: Always wear a life jacket when on the water. Always watch children when they are in or near any type of water. As we bring National Physicians Week, we want to bring attention to Drs' commitment and lifesaving work. Neha Verma and Patrick McDougal here in Gwinnett County. Dr. Verma has lived in Gwinnett County for more than 25 years and is the associate medical director for Piedmont Eastside Medical Center’s Emergency Department. In the department, she oversees the education of EMT and paramedic trainees at the Training Academy in Dacula. Celebrate a Gwinnett Father-Son Duo Quick Action On Fire

We want to celebrate a Gwinnett father-son duo who proved that even the simplest actions in a fire response can save lives. Last year, Company 30 responded to a house fire and learned that a neighbor helped ensure a quick response. A young resident saw the fire from his bedroom and told his dad, who immediately called 911. The father also alerted his household and neighbors before helping them evacuate.
