New Battery Technologies — LearnTheLingo – 34

Most battery-powered devices, from smartphones and tablets to electric vehicles and energy storage systems, rely on lithium-ion battery technology. Because lithium-ion batteries can store a significant amount of energy in such a small package, charge quickly, and last long, they have become the battery of choice for new devices. How Do Lithium-Ion Batteries Work? Lithium is stored in the battery’s anode, the positively charged electrode, and the cathode, which is the negatively charged electrode. A liquid electrolyte, or separator, transports positively charged lithium ions between the anode and cathode, the movement of which helps create free electrons in the anode. As a…

VoIP — LearnTheLingo –33

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that allows users to make phone calls using the Internet instead of a traditional phone line. VoIP is also known as IP telephony. VoIP enables voice calls to be transmitted as data packets, facilitating various methods of voice communication, including traditional applications like Skype, Microsoft Teams, Google Voice, and VoIP phones. Regular telephones can also be used for VoIP by connecting them to the Internet via analog telephone adapters (ATAs), which convert traditional telephone signals into digital data packets that can be transmitted over IP networks. The broader terms Internet telephony, broadband telephony, and broadband phone service specifically refer to the delivery of…

Ransonware — LearnTheLingo -32

Today’s focus: #Ransomware – a malicious software that encrypts your data, locking you out until a ransom is paid. Ransomware is a type of malware that prevents you from accessing your device and the data stored on it, usually by encrypting your files. Ransomware attacks target individuals and businesses, often demanding payment in cryptocurrency. Protect yourself by keeping backups, updating software, and being cautious with emails and links. Stay informed, stay secure! #Cybersecurity #InfoSec #RansomwareStay…

Cold Conditions – PowerLines – Safety Tips

As temperatures fall, rain can freeze, leading to icy and dangerous road conditions. Increased ice accumulation can cause more trees and branches to fall, potentially damaging powerlines and leading to widespread power outages. If you see a downed powerline don’t touch it and call 911. Let utility professionals and emergency personnel handle the situation. Please also keep these safety tips in mind: Always assume powerlines are live and stay as far away as possible. Even downed wires can still be energized and extremely dangerous. Never drive over downed powerlines. Even if they appear inactive, they can be entangled with your…
