It is with profound sadness that Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services announces the off-duty death of Fire Inspector Senior Aleks Shaverin on March 24, 2025.
Aleksandr “Aleks” V. Shaverin joined our fire family on March 27, 2010. After completing his fire recruit training and gaining an Emergency Medical Technician certification, Shaverin received his first assignment at Fire Station 6 on A-Shift.
In 2014, he joined our Community Risk Reduction Division as a Fire Inspector, where he continued to serve our residents by working with building owners and contractors to ensure that structures in our County complied with ordinances and met the Gwinnett Standard.
Beyond his professional role, Aleks is a husband, father, grandfather, and one of our dearest brothers. Thank you for 15 years of dedicated service, Fire Inspector Senior Aleks Shaverin; rest easy, and we’ll take it from here.
