Nuts and Bolts Training – Gwinnett Fire Department

Searching is one of the most essential skills we learn to save lives. To teach our firefighter/paramedics how to effectively search a building, we train on a drill that we call “Nuts and Bolts. ” In this drill, the firefighter/paramedic trainee begins at the top of our training tower and meticulously works down to the ground floor searching for a bolt with washers on it. If the trainee loses or misses any items, they will fail the drill. This drill teaches attention to detail, search techniques, and how to do difficult tasks under pressure.
