When forecasted temperatures reach 35 degrees Fahrenheit or below, the County’s five warming stations open from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am to offer temporary overnight relief from long-term exposure. Residents in need can warm up, eat a meal, and get some rest. On-call volunteers are needed to help staff organize check-in materials, greet participants, monitor program areas, assist with set-up and break down, and perform other related station tasks. Help Gwinnett Parks and Recreation honor veterans at a special Veterans’ Brunch on Wednesday, November 5 from 9:30am to 2:30pm at the Bethesda Park Senior Center in Lawrenceville. Volunteers will support this meaningful event by assisting with setup, food prep, decorating, serving guests, refilling drinks, clearing tables, washing dishes, and general cleanup.
