Firefighters responded at approximately 2:30 p.m. to a neighbor’s report of a house fire on the 4000 block of McKinley Drive in Snellville.
Upon arrival, fire crews found a working fire at a single-family, split-level residence. While investigating, firefighters found a well-involved second floor and attic. Firefighters deployed two hose lines and elevated streams from an aerial to extinguish the flames. The house sustained extensive fire damage to the main floor, second floor, and attic. Medical crews on the scene were utilized to rehab all firefighters.
No occupants were home at the time of the incident. The neighbor saw smoke and flames coming from the home and called 911. The homeowners were at work at the time of the fire and were notified about the fire by the neighbors. There were smoke alarms inside the home at the time of the fire. Two adults, one child, and two dogs were displaced due to the fire. The occupants declined assistance from the American Red Cross.
Fire Investigators responded to the scene for cause and fire determination. The Fire Investigators ruled the fire as accidental.
