Ensuring that everyone in the family is well-educated on fire safety is one of our top priorities. This includes the youngest members of the family, as well! Residents of all ages are welcome to schedule a tour at any of our 31 fire stations Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tours, of course, are dependent upon any emergency calls that personnel may receive at that time. The lessons to be learned from Gwinnett County’s Citizens Fire Academy are more than taking notes and listening to seminars. They also include riding in a County firetruck, learning to operate a firehose as part of a fire response unit, and navigating through our Mobile Fire Safety House. In-depth lessons from some of the department’s most qualified educators will introduce insight into the various specialty teams Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services operates, such as HazMat, Swiftwater Rescue, Mass Casualty Incident, and more. Gwinnett operates 11 glass recycling locations and invites residents to join us at glass recycling pop-up events throughout the County in February, March, and April. Residents are encouraged to bring their glass to recycle and receive free bags and other items at each event.
