The lessons to be learned from Gwinnett County’s Citizens Fire Academy are more than taking notes and listening to seminars. They also include riding in a County firetruck, learning to operate a firehose as part of a fire response unit, and navigating through our Mobile Fire Safety House.
In-depth lessons from some of the department’s most qualified educators will introduce insight into the various specialty teams Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services operates, such as HazMat, Swiftwater Rescue, Mass Casualty Incident, and more.
Citizens Fire Academy is a nine-week program offered twice a year to residents, college students, and business owners in our county. Participants will experience the Fire and Emergency Services Department first-hand by learning about the organization, the services we provide, and valuable fire and life safety information that increases knowledge of what to do in emergencies.
Participants will also have the opportunity to go through simulated firefighting and EMS scenarios, and witness life and work at the fire station.
