Fire Services – Carrer
Our Fire Investigations Section is constantly on the move, examining fire scenes for origin and cause determination within the County.
Personnel in the section respond to a plethora of phone calls, which may turn into either an origin and cause or a criminal investigation into how a fire started.
Fire Investigators spend time examining fire debris, reviewing available video, making follow-up phone calls, canvassing areas to speak with victims or witnesses, and gathering evidence that may lead to the arrest of a suspect or bring closure to property owners.
They may be required to testify in criminal and civil court proceedings. Their work often influences public education messaging to provide safety tips to residents when fire incidents indicate a developing trend.
Fire Investigators also perform pre-employment background checks on all applicants for Fire and Emergency Services positions.
