Thanksgiving Food Giveaway – 05/06-Nov-2025

Join the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and Volunteer Gwinnett at the 2025 Thanksgiving Food Giveaway at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Volunteers are needed now through Wednesday, November 5 to prepare food boxes and Thursday, November 6 to distribute the food boxes to families in need during the event. This outdoor opportunity involves standing and lifting, so gloves, closed-toe shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. Volunteer groups of all sizes are welcome to register at this fun, annual event now in its fifth year.          Hands-Only CPR & Safety Event at Gas South Arena! What an incredible day at Gas South Arena (6400 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Duluth, GA)! A huge thank you to our amazing CFA volunteers, dedicated CRR Educators, and our Gwinnett County Firefighters for sharing their time, knowledge, and passion for saving lives. And of course — thank you to all our participants who stopped by the Safety Table and learned how to perform Hands-Only CPR. Every set of hands trained today makes our community stronger and safer!

               Serving Our Community — One Car at a Time!  Today’s food distribution event at Best Friend Park in Norcross was an incredible effort — and a powerful reminder of the need in our community. CFA Alumni volunteers joined forces with our partners to help serve over 600 cars, providing food and essentials to families in need. At approximately 10:28 p.m. last night, a vacant business fire erupted at 1382 Pleasant Hill Road in Lawrenceville at approximately 10:28 p.m.There were no injuries connected with the incident, and no other properties were affected. Firefighters brought the fire under control at 10:46 p.m. The cause of this fire was accidental with an electrical source.

Thanks Giving – Lighting of the Tree

The tradition continues! Come ring in the holiday season at Lighting of the Tree on Thanksgiving night, November 27 on the lawn of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. From 5:30pm to 8:00pm, enjoy live entertainment, kids’ activities, a gingerbread house contest, s’mores, and Santa’s grand arrival to light the tree! He’ll stick around to greet visitors and take photos in the Courthouse, which will also be open for self-guided tours. Reminder! Join us for America Recycles Day on Saturday, November 8 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds from 9:00am to noon. Bring hard-to-recycle items like electronics, tires, clothing, sneakers, and latex/oil-based paint. • Paper shredding available (limit five copier paper boxes) • Paint: Up to 10 gallons per vehicle; cans must have at least 25% wet paint • No empty or rusted cans — empty cans go in your household trash • Fees apply for TVs, monitors, and printers • Tires without rims are accepted but no dealer tires Details and volunteer sign-up: GwinnettCounty.com/AmericaRecyclesDay
