An active shooter is an individual who is engaged in killing, or attempting to kill, people in a confined and populated area. Active shooter incidents are often unpredictable and evolve quickly. Gwinnett Police is now offering an active violence course to individuals. The course outlines the importance of situational awareness and the concepts RUN, HIDE, FIGHT and AVOID, DENY, DEFEND. They are part of the Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services team and are specially trained to investigate fire scenes, collect evidence, and determine whether a fire was accidental, intentional, or caused by other factors.
