We would like to wish a Happy 205th Birthday to Florence Nightingale — the founder of modern nursing!
“The Lady with the Lamp” is well remembered for prioritizing sanitation and individual care when treating British soldiers during the Crimean War in 1854.
To combat mass infections and low hygiene, Nightingale and her 38 nurses began cleaning every room and stressed handwashing in unsanitary conditions.
This helped bring the death rate at her military hospital down from 40 to 2 percent.
Always remember to practice both proper sanitation and handwashing! As Nightingale’s efforts showed, it goes a long way to promote your health.
