In the early morning hours of April 11, 2016, Station 1 responded to a 26-year-old pregnant woman who was experiencing a medical emergency, resulting in the delivery of a 31-week-old baby.
Once on the scene, the crewdecided to transport both the mother and child immediately to the hospital. Throughout the transport, CPR and lifesaving measures were administered to the neonate, and care was transferred to the hospital staff upon arrival.
Fast forward nearly nine years to that date, and the crew from Station 1 had a heartwarming reunion with the mother and her daughter, Charlotte.
Her mother shared that Charlotte is not only thriving in every conceivable way but also excels academically, ranking first in her class. The crew had the privilege of spending roughly an hour with them. Witnessing and understanding the profound impact this call had on their lives was incredibly moving. This is the reason we train!
Thank you to our firefighter/paramedics who were ready to jump into action that morning and save a life that day.
