Older adults often face extra challenges when it comes to escaping a fire.
Mobility, hearing, or vision issues can make every second harder.
Is your home ready? Remember alarms, exits, plan, and practice.
- • Alarms – Are your smoke alarms working? Do you need bed shakers or strobe lights if hearing is a challenge?
- • Exits – Are hallways and doors clear for walkers, wheelchairs, or canes?
- • Plan – Is there a safe bedroom on the ground floor or close to an exit?
- • Practice – Have you gone over the escape plan with family or neighbors who can help?
