When you call 911 from your cellphone, it’s important to share the location of the emergency with the call taker. We understand that in some cases, providing an exact location may be difficult. Well, there’s an app for that. The What3Words app helps our 911 Center locate callers who are in a location where no roads or a specific mailing address are available. The app gives the caller three words to provide to the dispatcher, allowing first responders to locate them quickly.

Our headquarters will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Fire stations around the county will remain open and ready to respond to emergencies.

For 10 years, the Gwinnett 101 Citizen Academy has given participants a firsthand glimpse into how and why the Gwinnett County Government operates the way it does. Aiming to cultivate informed and engaged residents, students, and business owners in Gwinnett, participants get a behind-the-scenes look at how the County provides high-quality services to the community, meet local leaders, and tour county facilities. The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the Bridge the Gap Community 5K this Saturday, May 31 at Rabbit Hill Park, located at 400 Rabbit Hill Road in Dacula. The event will begin at 8:00am, with warm-up, registration, and packet pick-up from 7:00am to 7:45am. The race will finish by 10:30am. The race entry fee is $35. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Keybo Building Bridges Foundation, which focuses on improving community engagement and addressing disparities. Register today to enjoy a fun-filled event, establish impactful relationships, and support a worthy cause.
