After more than two decades of dedicated service, Captain Micah Lynn is retiring from Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.
Captain Lynn began his career with Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services on April 14, 2001, following his time as a wildfire firefighter with the Georgia Forestry Commission. Over the years, he served in many capacities, including:
- • Firefighter at Stations 14 and 13
- • Member of the Swiftwater Team
- • Driver/Engineer at Station 18
- • Lieutenant at Stations 9, 12, and 28
- • Captain at Stations 18 and 15
- • Battalion Chief for B5 and B2
- • Captain at Station 10 (final assignment)
When reflecting on his journey, Captain Lynn shared that the greatest honor was being part of a crew, “having others you could count on and being someone they could count on in return.”
He hopes to be remembered as a leader who strived to give his best and live with integrity.
As he begins his next chapter, teaching at a small Christian school, Captain Lynn leaves a message for the next generation of firefighters: “Hold yourself to a high standard. You have to want to get better and learn how to do things. Ask someone who knows. Learn and perform; become the go-to person.”
Please join us in congratulating Captain Micah Lynn on his retirement and thanking him for more than 20 years of service, leadership, and dedication to the Gwinnett Community.
