With the heatwave upon us, it’s important to know the signs of heat exhaustion—it can quickly lead to heat stroke, a life-threatening emergency.

With the heatwave upon us, it’s vital to recognize heat-related emergencies. Heat exhaustion can quickly escalate to life-threatening heat stroke.
Heat exhaustion signs include:
  • • Rapid, shallow breathing
  • • Cold, clammy skin and heavy sweating
  • • Weakness and muscle cramps
  • • Possible loss of consciousness
Call 911 immediately if someone is showing these heat stroke symptoms:
  • • Deep then shallow breathing
  • • Fluctuating pulse
  • • Dry, hot skin
  • • Dilated pupils
  • • Loss of consciousness, coma, or seizures
