This Wildland Firefighter Week of Remembrance, we pause to honor the brave, highly trained emergency responders who run toward danger to protect human life and our precious forests and wildlands. While the majority of wildland firefighters in the United States are located in the Western United States, every year, these American heroes respond to tens of thousands of wildland fires, demonstrating incredible courage and unwavering dedication.
While crews and organizations make every effort to protect those who protect us, our heroes sometimes fall. We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, ensuring their legacy lives on.
