As Independence Day approaches, let’s make sure our celebrations are safe and fun. We, along with Gwinnett County Police want to remind you that consumer fireworks are allowed on July 3 and July 4 from 10:00am to 11:59pm. If you plan to light fireworks yourself, please keep these safety tips in mind:
- • Never let kids handle fireworks.
- • Follow all directions on the packaging.
- • Keep fireworks away from homes, dry grass, and anything flammable.
- • Have water (bucket or hose) ready.
- • Light one at a time, then move away quickly.
- • Soak used fireworks in water before tossing them.
- • Sparklers burn extremely hot! Consider glow sticks for kids.
For the safest experience, check out professional fireworks displays. It’s no doubt that our 911 Center receives many calls during these times. Always call 911 if there is an emergency like a fire or immediate medical assistance. As a reminder, call our non-emergency line, 770.513.5700, for issues such as loud music. We wish you a wonderful and safe Independence Day!
