First Major Heatwave This Week — Take Heat Precautions
The first major heatwave of the year is here, with triple-digit heat index values expected across many parts of the state. We want you to be prepared.
Here are some quick tips to beat the heat:
  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of cool water, especially when you’re outside.
  • Cool down: Take a refreshing shower after being outdoors or in the sun.
  • Dress smart: Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing. Don’t forget a brimmed hat and sunglasses for extra protection.
  • Seek shade and wear sunscreen: If you’re outside, use plenty of sunscreen and look for shady spots to take breaks.
  • Stay indoors if possible: When temperatures hit the 90s, consider staying in air conditioning. If you must be outside, try to limit activities to the early morning or late evening.
Stay cool and stay safe, Gwinnett!
