FireFighters Best Practices — LearnTheLingo -16
Why are firefighters pushing fire trucks into the fire station?
The tradition of pushing brand-new fire trucks into a fire station dates back to the 19th century when horses pulled the firefighting apparatus. Horses couldn’t back into the station, so firefighters had to detach the horses from the equipment and push the pump into the bay.
Today, we honor the rich history of the fire service industry with push-in ceremonies and take pride in the new investment. We also want to thank the residents of our great county for their approval of the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, which made the purchase of several new apparatuses, like these ones, possible!
