Firefighters were called to an apartment fire on Pleasant Hill Road on Thursday afternoon. At 2:14 p.m., fire crews responded to reports about a fire at the MAA Pleasant Hill Apartments, located at 2500 Pleasant Hill Road. The caller reported that something was on fire on a balcony and that people were leaving the building.
One resident said they were cooking food on the balcony when the fire started. They tried to put it out, but the fire grew, so they evacuated the area. Smoke alarms were working and sounded during the fire. The fire displaced ten adults and three children, who are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross and apartment management.
