Home fires in Gwinnett have tragically resulted in nine lives lost this year. While our firefighters continue to respond to every emergency with dedication and commitment, we know that the most effective way to prevent these tragedies is through community awareness. With October being Fire Prevention Month, we want to stress the importance of home fire safety.  

Many people think flames are the biggest threat during a fire, but it’s actually smoke. Smoke inhalation can lead to disorientation, suffocation, unconsciousness, and death. When it comes to fire, seconds truly matter.
